florian kruse and nils nürnberg need very little introduction these days but for those that have been asleep or living under a rock, a good start would be to check their recent output on fine labels such as nrk, om, moodmusic, dessous and our very own dieb, to name a very select few. their first combined effort on the label has resulted in the >suerte ep<, a tight collection of deep as hell, tech infused house numbers heavily characterized by their attention to groove and addictive, seductive chord progressions that have become a hallmark of their production prowess.

straight off the heels of his highly successful bird brain album teaser tracks, aundy and beat that bird comes the definitive claude vonstroke record everyone has been waiting for. the a side is classic genius cvs at work. he constructs a mad vocal pattern up and down through 4 octaves and all the vowel sounds of the live human voice. then he creates a chord out of the notes all coming together for en even bigger surprise in the 2nd half. this track is quite simply unique. there is nothing else like it. the b-side resembles the freaky side of cvs harking back to the tech funk sound of tracks like chimps. this time claude makes an ultra-wide filter sweep sound like a pair of humongous tits bouncing up and down on a trampoline. the boob jokes are there but the track is so filthy dirty its hard to even find time to chuckle.

after hitting his stride in 2008 with his debut for mobilee one is not enough followed by his second release, sand on the floor, the one-man phenomenon is back for a third round for mobilees 55th release entitled first talk, an enthralling tech-house release that is as boundless as it is stunning. the a-side first talk is a bouncing techy track that constantly moves forward and progresses without sounding the least bit rushed, continuously teasing the listener with build-ups that stop just short of peaking. combining vintage synths and reverb-laced loops, and.id meticulously plays with dynamics and atmospherics with the end result being a release that constantly moves forward without sounding the least bit rushed. b1 ephoria maintains a similar level of compelling restraint, with stuttered house beats and melodic undercurrents that morph and shift until they transform into arpeggiated swells leading the track to its endpoint. on b2 lights on and.id displays his darker, more minimal side, taking advantage of lower frequency ranges and recurrent echoes

trademark is the collaboration of tony reeves and tundra records labelmate loki. formed in 2000, the trademark project blends electronic studio craft with the live influence of their years playing jazz. trademarks output ranges from chillout through breakbeat to deep house and even drum and bass, but always with the fusion of deep jazzy chords, rolling beats and searing synths that define their style.
ia2 showcases all kinds of broken beats and trademark here provide another 3 varied tracks, with great support all round. new frontiers is a funky, upbeat broken dancey track and has had loads of support from promos. great progression through the track and some great riffs and percussion. outworld has been compared to early earth stuff from bukem and cafe del mar stuff, deep broken beats and sunny pads, great arrangement. lovely deep bass and textures. south central is a more straight up broken track, probably the most chilled of the bunch live live sounding bass and a nice deep vibe.

sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.

on their introductory minus ep, click box offers a refreshing return to a bygone era of classic instrumentals, full of experimentation and passion generated by that ongoing love affair between man and machine. berlin shades starts out in a jittery minimal fashion but soon dives much deeper as the tough electro bassline expands and contracts dragging the dancer to and fro. the cascading hook and in-your-face sci-fi synth motif add a sense of tongue-in-cheek drama to a dynamic arrangement that incorporates steep inclines, sharp drops and snaking pathways. as the short staccato bass riff gains momentum and the hook comes round for the second time you just know somethings lying in wait and the boys certainly dont disappoint. lost road is anything but a blind alley, kicking off with some low-slung interplay between a two-note bassline and a whiplash snare that dishes out a serious spanking. hi-hats fizz across the audio spectrum, cleverly pitching up and down before a drunken bass sequence ushers in the main section with its sliding, twisted synth distortions primed for surprise and immediate disorientation. once all the elements are in play, the fun really starts with so many objects of interest competing for attention. the arrangement is pulled and pushed to great effect extracting maximum effect from this tough little unit. more electro flavour to the fore as the loose, broken beat intro and robot sounds of some toys make for some slick moves on the dancefloor. the retro synth riffs and dark spiralling pads conjure up images of some early 80s lab full of computer kids in white coats twiddling knobs on huge mainframe monoliths. the bouncing bass and analogue belches make this a must for all retro-tastic electro-boogie fans. the theme continues over into voxer as rising filtered bass tones playout over another trademark click box drum pattern, this time doused in heavy reverb and delay. an array of analogue bleeps, screams and laser beams keep the motor ticking over.

te amo is a forgotten gem originally released on the volumex label back in 1993 and then licensed to the legendary vc records in the u.k. with mixes from john digweed. this was a huge anthem back in the early 90s full of balearic passion and happiness which is often missing in todayÆs music. but lets not get carried away in the memories of the past and check out these brand new mixes. in fact, the record makes a fine return to todays scene thanks to brilliant interpretations from two of our favourite djs/producers out there: hotly tipped paolo mojo and tapesh.to round off one pretty nifty package, the original caliente mix is enclosed also. and this still sounds as relevant today as it did almost two decades ago. a blast from the past indeed! very similar to releases on record labels like cr2, defected and toolroom.

hailing from montpellier, rodriguez jr. makes his return to leena with “kids of hula,” bringing the coastal sounds of his hometown along with him. after the success of “rubbo swingo”, his first release on leena, rodriguez jr.—who also comprises half of f communications’ the youngsters—went on to release records for boxer recordings and mothership. on leena’s 11th release, he has returned for a second round, once again displaying his softer side as a housey, psychedelic producer. “kids of hula“ begins on a strongly melodic note with airy, exotic chords leading the way and occasional accents of tropical percussion lining the backdrop. old-school throwbacks also have their place here, as the track climaxes with the use of psychedelic vintage sounds that recall the work of space disco giant lindstrom until they ultimately fuse together with the track’s initial harmonies to create a complex and layered final product. the b-side “pandora” begins with a more stuttered beat and a warbled, static-laced environment. the track reaches its high point with psychedelic sounds comparable to those heard on the a-side that possess a more hypnotic, melodic, and spacey twist. digital exclusive “offshore” fills its landscape with fragments of vocals and high pitched bleeps, blurps, squeals that alternate in time with one another until vintage synthesizers enter the picture. as the track progresses, the old-school synthesizer sounds and vocal snippets unite and begin to work together in unison, by the time the track reaches its peak, the vintage synths have taken on a completely new sound and direction, guiding the pulse of the track until its ending.

big love go from strength to strength next up for them is up n coming french producer romain curtis teams up with seamus haji and rising swedish star awa on vocals for this sublime track that should do the biznizz this summer. romains club mix has an infectious feel and teases the chorus vocal to crowd-pleasing results. seamus hajis vocal mix rushes straight to the top of the anthemometer whilst his dub goes deeper and tuffer with a slight tribal edge. all round dirty/techy/funker filthy rich really goes for the peak time slot making great use of the vocal for light relief

flying circus music, returns with its second release, this time rocking the deep, extended, dramatic house vibes of radio slaves interpretations of humates love stimulation. the new-berliner matt edwards took his popularity from underground to overground, and right back round again. the world-travelling dj founded his solid, big room production style while his infamous bootleg and remix work was a mainstay of the uk electronic scene. now, with the strength of his rekids label and his unmistakable production approach, he re-works this early classic of german techno/trance élove stimulation into two remarkable slow burning epics. the >full length vox remix< builds from very opening bars, carefully combining classic house sensibilities with a totally free and organic, long flowing arrangement. at over 15 minutes, its a heavy weight tool for those late, hedonistic hours! carrying on the blissed out theme, weare also treated to a panorama garage remix, that bears a more raw, jacking house vibe, with its straight up beats and deeply-swung chord stabs. radio slave is a master at keeping things ear-tinglingly stripped, yet still filling the room with power, energy and tension. these two remixes certainly pay their dues to classic days gone by, but they also stand out as superb examples of the modern state of house. judging by this release its still as strong as it ever was!!

itÆs been a couple of years since victim last released a full 12, but just like the buses you wait that long and then two come along at once. for victim, the >off piste< 12 follows hot on the heels of their split 12 with jerome hill & dont recordings. in the case of ben pest, they are coming thick and fast at the moment, with a recent release on lukes angers bonus round label, and an upcoming 12 on the seriously deranged panic bridge label. so, all in all a busy few months. as for the tracks, they all share in common a seriously weighty bottom end, and a tendency for crunchy acidic midsàbut that is kinda where the similarities end, as ben takes the opportunity to explore various avenues off the main street of techno. from the stomping acid workout of >zeedonk< to the more electro-influenced beats of >pain n gain< this is a record that covers a fair few bases (basses?), although all with the aim of thrilling a crowd that enjoys their techno on the gnarly side.

ill keep on loving you lays down a commanding piece of old fashioned electro-disco, particularly notable for its blurry, washed out vocals and stately downtempo synth-funk. next, >living without your lov< weighs in with a bassline that halfway between >another one bites the dust< and daft punks >around the world< before sublime synths, twangin guitar and vocal edits pile into the mix to round off a delightful piece of grade-a rose-tinted disco.

according the info provided by the label this is all new tracks from art forest, the actual son of cybotrons rik davis. some freaked out electro techno that harks back to the early days of model 500. we are not sure if they are telling the truth (or are we sure they are not telling the truth!? stuff like this does not come around often.... dont sleep!!

here comes the third and final part of afu artists remixing afu artists and it s a very nice round up to the first remix series on afu limited! butch s great second release on afu limited gets a very high class remix treatment by none other than thomas p. heckmann himself and the man who likes to whop, gabriel ananda!! heckmann reworked butch s dancefloor killer of 2009 dark fader and pushed the level more than a bit higher with it s deep driving bassline and the ever growing tension and building of the vibe! sure thing this will be heard at peak time at outdoor and indoor parties this summer! ananda chose the excellent nomad track and delivered a very atmospheric and groovy/dubby version, peppered by his own unique style of rhythm and driving force! the man behind such classics as miracle whop, doppelwhipper on platzhirsch and many others surely knows how to bring his skills to life and to make this remix a sure classic again!

what more can be said about the legendary space djz that hasn t already been said. kicking off this inaugural release we have the dynamic duo showing us their diversity with a track that nods back to the roots of techno. tripods offers us a deep groove with peak time rhythms. the funk just doesn t stop with this sure fire anthem track. the concrete djz have been making quite a name for themselves over the past few years. their track rising tension gives us the reason why. a tough no nonsense hard techno track that s the perfect combination of funk and heavy beats. a true floor filler. arkus p aka peter schmidt is known worldwide for his monster tracks and untitled is no exception. it s a fantastic combination of speed, bass, and melody. this track is pure destruction! we are proud to have arkus on board to help round out such a diverse first release.

some would say the chicken lips label is long overdue, but lipservice is worth the wait as it promises the very best from augmented cl clan of dean meredith, andy meecham, stevie kotey and johnny spencer - a collective who have remixed just about everyone, spawned a thousand copycats and destroyed a few floors in the process. the inaugural lipservice release sees the chaps unleash zeefungk, one of their most popular and rare guises. the a-side is occupied by >robot eyes< - a splendid slice of electro-disco-funk which is vintage chicken lips. acid bass and loose drums combine with keys which progress wonderfully to create a really special piece of dancefloor tomfoolery. next up is >feast of freeks< (stevie koteys tape edit), a new edit of a track featured on the bands now-classic >extended play< album but never released as a 12inch. the bearfunk main man and all round gent delivers a tweaky, driving uptempo disco monster which climaxes in some trademark kotey madness. >robot lips< closes the packages and displays more of the guys unreal keyboard work as the groove stays steady but the hands go hyper. riddled with vintage synth work, >robot lips< is heads down business and no mistake.

after the superb best of chaz jankel on their sister label tirk last year, nang are grinning ear to ear for the second release with some top flight remixes featuring big names all the way. first up is rekids regular toby tobias and the slick discoid grooving interpretation of call me. fresh from the success of their final electric chair comp the unabombers weigh in with their bouncy walking bass take on one of 2007s top disco tunes get myself together. to round things off a 3rd big name diesel from xpress 2 chills things out and delivers his stripped down after hours version. nang is out of the gates and running folks.
